Junji Sarashina and Toshiyuki Mimaki were children when the U.S. dropped an atomic bomb on Hiroshima, Japan 80 years ago, on August 6, 1945. The bomb killed 140,000 people in Hiroshima. Days later, 70,000 people were killed, when the U.S. dropped a second atomic bomb on the city of Nagasaki. Lieutenant Colonel Harry Stewart Jr., a Tuskegee Airman and decorated WWII pilot who played a key role in advancing civil rights, died at age 100.
