This close up of the planing cut on a 4” newel post, in slow motion then real speed, shows how efficient the skew is for this. Cutting on the bottom 2/3rds of the edge and not using the tip gives a smooth finish and is the best tool for the job IMO. First job this morning is a couple of Drop finials for newel posts. These are to match a very poor photo and just the overall length marked on the photo. Some very dry pine so not the best to turn. These are to be painted white to match existing ones. Thank you for sharing and commenting as this helps others see the videos.
