Our Eastern Box Turtles have came out of brumation and they are hungry! So we are making sure that they have lots of good things to eat in their outdoor habitat. Our Eastern Box Turtle patients often burrow under foliage, leaf litter, and soil in their enclosures, just as they do in the wild 🍂! Eastern Box turtles can be found in a range of habitats, from meadows to woods. But they seem to prefer moist deciduous forests. This makes good sense because box turtles, like many other animals, overwinter under leaf litter and enjoy the nutrient-rich, moist environment it creates year-round!
