You Have to See This‼️😱 Moon jellyfish (Aurelia) are common along the Oregon coast and are easy to identify by the four horseshoe-shaped gonads visible through the bell. They feed by filtering plankton and small larvae from the water using their oral arms and mucus, then moving food to the mouth. Comb jellies (ctenophores) are not jellyfish. They move using eight rows of cilia called “combs.” The rainbow effect you see is caused by light diffraction off those moving cilia, not bioluminescence.
